ABOUT ME

Putting My Experience
to Work

Tyrene Cook is a Colorado native who grew up in Gypsum. She and her husband, Brian, moved to Hartsel in 2018 to the ranch they had long dreamed of. Since then, they have proudly called Park County home and have never once regretted the decision. Brian, a retired Denver firefighter, now serves as the Hartsel Fire Chief. Together, they share a blended family of three children, a son-in-law, and a grandson. In 2024, Tyrene attended the police academy and became a patrol deputy with the Park County Sheriff’s Office—gaining firsthand insight into the challenges and opportunities facing local families. In addition to law enforcement, she has spent the last four years volunteering with Hartsel Fire, running multiple emergency calls ranging from car crashes to medical emergencies to wildfires. These experiences have deepened her understanding of public safety, community needs, and the realities Park County residents face. Since arriving in Hartsel, Tyrene has stayed deeply involved in community service. She joined the Hartsel Community Center board as soon as she moved here in 2018 and has also served on the Hartsel Fire Auxiliary board since then. This past year, she helped revamp Hartsel Days—delivering a highly successful event—and she serves on the Law Enforcement Gives Back Committee, which provides scholarships to South Park seniors. Tyrene is a mover and a shaker—she doesn’t let the grass grow under her feet for long. When she sees a change that needs to happen, she goes after it head-on, researching, asking questions, and exploring multiple avenues to find the best solutions. She values people from all walks of life and is an independent thinker who believes the strongest solutions come from listening, research, and asking tough questions. With experience building programs and strengthening systems, she understands collaboration and the importance of community trust. “My faith guides me. I believe in service, honesty, and doing what’s right—even when it isn’t easy.” Tyrene is not a career politician—she’s a neighbor, a mom, a wife, a deputy, and a business owner who loves this community. She sees the problems, but she also sees the potential. By empowering families, supporting small businesses, and leading with integrity, she believes Park County can thrive. Together, we can fix what’s broken, elevate what’s working, and build a stronger future for Park County.
