ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Tyrene

WHERE I COME FROM

I grew up in Gypsum, Colorado—about 40 minutes from the nearest gas station and over an hour from the closest grocery store we could afford. Because of that upbringing, I understand the real challenges of rural living, the long drives for basic necessities, and the importance of strong, connected communities. Those early experiences mirror many of the same challenges Park County families face today. In 2018, my husband and I moved to Park County, and those childhood lessons immediately helped me appreciate and understand the unique needs of this community. Since moving to Park County, my motto has been it takes a village—and that couldn’t be more true when the winter months hit here in South Park.

A THRIVING CAREER

In my early 20s, I earned my EMT certification, which opened the door to the world of medical care. That path eventually took me beyond hands-on patient care and into managing large medical clinics—launching them from the ground up, problem-solving, innovating new ideas, writing policies and procedures, understanding business needs, and working within budgets. In 2009, my life changed in an instant when I suffered a massive stroke that left me paralyzed and unable to speak. I had to start over completely—learning to read, write, walk, talk, and even say my ABCs again. Nine months later, after a mini-stroke, my husband Brian and I made the decision that I would step away from my career, become a stay-at-home mom, and help run our busy construction company. In 2016, I was blessed with a position at Littleton Public Schools. I started as the school nurse, but they quickly recognized my ability to lead and promoted me to second-in-command in launching the district’s first-ever high-school expelled program. Our team brought expelled students back into a structured, supportive setting—teaching social skills, providing social-emotional and behavioral support, giving them a sense of value, and preparing them for life beyond school, including how to apply for jobs. My years of volunteer service with Hartsel Fire have also brought me back to my grassroots in medical care, and I have truly enjoyed getting my boots back on the ground in the EMS community. In 2024, I attended the Police Academy and now serve proudly as one of your Park County Sheriff’s Deputies. These combined experiences have given me a deep understanding of what Park County needs and a renewed passion for helping our citizens and communities thrive.

MISSION STATEMENT

Where Authenticity Meets Equality - With Integrity

I am not a career politician—I am authentically me. I’m proud to be running on the Republican ticket, but I’ve always been an independent thinker. I believe real solutions often live in the gray area, not strictly on one side or the other. My goal is to listen, lead with common sense, and do what’s best for Park County. That includes addressing major concerns like our budget, finding effective ways to bring new revenue into the county, and eliminating unnecessary spending. I’m also committed to collaborating on new ideas that encourage Park County residents to shop locally and keep their hard-earned money here in Park County.

I understand the issues that matter most to our citizens: our budget, our roads, and our Sheriff’s Office. I also recognize the importance of our ordinances—and the need to enforce them. I plan not only to improve outdated ordinances, but also to remove those that are unnecessary or that fail to support the people of Park County in living within their means. My commitment is to serve with honesty, practicality, and a focus on helping our community thrive.
